No Mike Swanson this week. So keeping with the Tuesday tradition on the show of being highly informative, Chuck and Pearse packed as much news and information into two hours as they could
From Bill Barr on Capital Hill to Explosions in Iran, Porkins and Ochelli covered the wild world on sportsman-like conduct without touching upon organized sports.
This week JP Sottile joined me for the first hour to discuss the climate catastrophe. We started out by discussing how many people, including myself, have long ignored this issue. We talked about how daunting and overwhelming the crisis is, and how this has led many to feel as though they can’t do anything to make a tangible change. We talked about Sottile’s recent op-ed in Truthout.org which links climate change to the spread of empire. JP talked about the link between US imperialism, the growth of the oil industry, and the damage is has wrought on the environment. We touched on how the Pentagon outwardly acknowledges climate change but continues to exacerbate the underlying problems. We illustrated these points in a discussion on the melting Arctic and the scramble to control its oil. Closing out the first hour, JP touched on the dangers of oil-related products such as plastic.
In the second hour, Jon Gold joined me to discuss some of the latest developments in the unending quest for truth and accountability with 9/11. We started off the the news that Attorney General William Barr has until Friday to decide to release the name of the high ranking Saudi official who oversaw the handling of 9/11 hijackers Khalid al-Mihdhar and Nawaf al-Hazmi. Jon talked about how listeners can get involved in pushing Barr to release the name. Later we talked about a U.S. federal judge ordering the FBI to release documents related to a probe of the the al-Hijji family in Sarasota, Florida, and its “many connections” to the hijackers including Mohammaed Atta. We finished the conversation by talking about the military trial of Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and four others, which is set for January 2021 at Guantanamo Bay.
Mike Swanson started off Tuesday’s Ochelli Effect with a discussion on markets and trends in current circumstances. Chuck answers with his idea about the Baseball Card market in the past. Are all casinos created equal? Is gold and silver the best safe bet? Are there merely gamblers running throughout the financial offers industry in search of their next grand mistake?
Chuck and Mike also discussed oil and how odd the futures and retail markets are behaving. What is the next boom? what is the next bust? Is it all a gold rush? Michael explains a lot of realities to Chuck who is way less educated on the subjects. Are we all supposed to work until we drop dead at our jobs? Whistle while you work for free and hope they’ll give you an underpaid position if you don’t drop dead in the meantime old man.
A fundamental lack of comprehension by those who are in power prevails in more trending circumstances than a populist should suffer.
Pearse Redmond is on break from his show but still doing his regular spot with us. The Iranian blame game is part of the focus on the second hour. Chuck offers speculation and outrage over the latest reality TV shows of diplomatic saber-rattling he observes. There is just too much news to cover. Is it too kind to say Trump suffers from “retardation”?
TYR’s Day is always entertaining and informative (But not always in that order) on The Ochelli Effect. There is a lot of interesting information in these two hours. Enjoy.
On TYR’s Day, A Cornucopia of Phobias and fabricated amblyopia deconstruct dreams of utopia. Michael Swanson started things off by examining the evolving social media/advertising head games driving personal interactions, Fame, and many walks of shame.
Facebook is for grandpa. The toxic anti-social media platform has been a thing for nearly a generation. What happened to your news stories and inspirations for outrage? Is it about to become more fertile digital soil for cults of personality to blossom within?
Venezuela is the focus in the second hour. Pearse Redmond and Chuck break down the alleged uprising and even speculate about the reality that may be unfolding while the MSM runs it’s standard mocking bird programming. Is anyone else reminded of “The Bay of Pigs”?
Are fake news and the anti-social media going to continue dominating public perceptions? Will the truth remain trapped behind enemy lines on the far side of the great Fire Wall?
Are the resource pirates with private armies merely utilizing the digital weapons developed in the internet age to make the repeating blueprint of regime change and population control continue far beyond 2020?
This week I opened up the phone lines and did a call in show. We had friend of the show Jon Gold call in to discuss the recent attacks on Ilhan Omar and the continued exploitation of 9/11 trauma. Jon talked about the recent spate of politicians and media figures invoking 9/11 and the “Never Forget” mantra to score political points. Later Kai called in to talk about the political situation in Sudan. We discussed the recent coup which has removed long time leader Omar al- Bashir, and the grassroots protest movement that fomented this change. Kai and I touched on the lack of overt western interference in Sudan and speculated on what this may mean. We also touched on the politics of water and the importance of the Nile River. Kai also talked about the background role that Israel and the Gulf are playing in Sudan.
Friend of show JG Michael of Parallax Views also called in to discuss Julian Assange and the strange media fascination with the Notre Dame fire. JG and I touched on why we dislike Assange but also fear the repercussions of extraditing him and the threat to journalism that it poses. I rounded out the show by talking with listener Thor in Switzerland. We discussed the role that private finance and corporations are playing in Africa and the negative effect they can have. Thor and I also touched on the concept of micro-financing. I finish the show by answering some listener questions from good friend of the show Curtis.
Welcome to Mister Swanson’s neighborhood, kinda. On TYR’s Day Michael Swanson returned after a vacation outside of The Asylum we call America to discuss some of the wicked webs of scandals spun around his home state of Virginia and provide his analysis of the political default positions he observes. Michael also talks about the social strategy of tensions that keep being harnessed to stoke fear. White Flight and post-industrial urban consolidation are nothing new even if the T.V. tries to sell it to you as “New and Improved”.
How is the War on Crime going? The first use of a SWAT Team was to attack The Black Panthers. When people speak of the “War On Terror” is there any real way to determine who terrorists are? A City Of Angels and it’s connection to corruption make it the perfect place to imagine the militarized Police forces of the future. Nixon and his “Law and Order” BS TV specials were only hinting at the BS TV yet to some.
In the second hour Red 6 checked in. Pearse Redmond continued the conversation addressing the current disinformation campaigns which merely serve the best interests of the Military Industrial Complex. Is it just about the oil? Is it really all about The Benjamin’s? Is every fear of Latino People been destined to be combined with the Islamist-Fascist narrative?
Michael Swanson joined me this month to discuss the ongoing political and economic crisis facing Venezuela. We talked about the United States efforts to overthrow President Maduro and replace him with the unknown Juan Guaido. Michael and I talked about the history of US backed coups in Central and South America. Michael and I discussed the economic warfare against Venezuela, including the looting of gold by the Bank of England. We also talked about the role that neocon lunatic John Bolton has played. We talked about the so called “Troika of Tyranny” and if this represents the direction of Trump’s foreign policy and legacy.
What will historians eventually decide about the assassination of JFK? Michael Swanson discusses this with Chuck and both partake in educated speculation on the matter.
What does the old rule of perspective have to do with modern conventions?
Mike is writing a book about the Vietnam War and keeps learning new things.
Is the distance of generations required to judge history? How will The JFK Research community be viewed in context?
Will future generations have no desire to care about the Kennedy assassination? Does anyone even remotely think World War One is as important as it actually is?
How did the Romans handle history? How bad are standard textbooks?
Pearse Redmond joins in the second hour.
The latest pointless debates over the SCOTUS nominee are discussed.
The War of Terror is still a thing. One wonders if historians will be able to untangle the mess of the alleged War already in progress.
Why is Iran the re-visited fabled enemy of the day?
In the first hour JP Sottile joins me to break down the recent Trump-Putin Summit in Helsinki. We start off with Trump’s recent reversal on comments he made stating that Russia didn’t interfere with the election. JP and I then get into the press conference itself and pick apart some of the major takeaways. JP talks about Bill Browder and Putin’s allegations about him and Hillary Clinton. We also talk about the strange “dry mouth” that Trump appeared to have during the presser and explore Trump’s possible health problems. I also ask JP about his strange comments regarding Israel. JP offers up his own analysis of this, diving into the geopolitics of Syria and Russia. We finish off by talking about the possibility that the US is seriously planning regime change in Iran. JP and I focus on the recent actions of the MEK, the bogus bomb plot in Paris, and Russia’s desire to ensure that Iran is not an energy powerhouse in the region.
In the second hour Aaron Franz joins me to discuss Elon Musk’s latest PR disaster. We talk about his insane tweets accusing diver Vern Unsworth of being a pedo, and his disastrous attempt to save the Thai soccer team with a mini-submarine. Aaron and I explore Musk’s cult of personality and his savior complex. We discuss the concept that Musk is both a modern day super hero and villain. Aaron talks about the hyperreailty of Musk and the Marvel Universe as well. We finish off the conversation touching on insane billionaire in general and the strange place they hold in our society.
Professor Isa Blumi joins me for part 2 of our series on Yemen. We pick up in the late 90’s after Ali Abdullah Saleh has come to power in a unified Yemen. Isa discusses Saleh’s strategy of sowing chaos all over the country in order to maintain absolute power. Isa talks about Saleh’s use of extreme violence, and his reliance on US power. We then explore how the so called Arab Spring played out in Yemen. We discuss the orchestrated nature of the movement, and how is sought to control the very real desires of the Yemeni public. Isa touches on people like Tawakkol Karman and her role as a US proxy during the Arab Spring. Isa brings us all the way to Saleh’s assassination and the current state of Yemen.
Later we talk about the role that Al Qaeda plays on Yemen as a bogey man. We discuss how the US used Yemen as playground for their eventual global drone program. We address the fight going on between Saudi Arabia and the UAE in Yemen. Isa also explains the political history of Ansar Allah (Houthis) and how they are not an Iranian proxy force.
