I recently joined good friend Chuck Ochelli for the first hour of this Friday show. We discussed the most recent Trump media shit show, mainly exploring the “scandal” over whether or not CNN blackmailed a Reddit user. Chuck and I talked about the strange symbiotic role that the alt-media and the right wing has with outlets such as CNN. I also talk about Alan Dershowitz’s latest transformation and how he has emerged from the shadows of scandal and Jeffrey Epstein with the help of his minion Mike Cernovich. Later Chuck and I explore the idea that Trump may actually be suffering from some form of mental illness and the early stages of something like dementia or Alzheimer’s. Chuck and I discuss how the subject of Hillary Clinton’s health was totally acceptable, where as discussing the president’s is a taboo topic.
Tom Secker and Matthew Alford join me today to discuss their brand new book National Security Cinema: The Shocking New Evidence of Government Control in Hollywood. We begin by talking about the overall structure of the book and why Tom and Matt decided to write it. Matt and Tom talk about how this book is different from other scholarly books on the topic of government influence in Hollywood and entertainment at large. Tom and Matt talk about the wealth of new research that they discovered which shows that this influence has only increased over time. The three of us examine DOD entertainment liaison head, Phil Strubb, and critique his claim that he only plays a minor role in Hollywood. We look at films such Contact, who in exchange for a few military trucks altered every subversive comment on the military, or simply wrote them out of entire scenes. We talk about how powerful a tool this is not just in presenting a particular image, but in ensuring that a particular image is never know to the viewing public. We discuss how the Pentagon continually wants a benevolent representation of themselves even though they continually boast to the media that they are the most destructive force on the planet. We also talk about the Terminator franchise which manages to instill the message that nuclear war isn’t so bad and that the military will always be there to help afterwards.
In the second hour we continue looking at several other cases studies including Hotel Rwanda, Rules of Engagement, and Thirteen Days. In the case of Hotel Rwanda Matt explains how this movie followed all of the US State Department’s talking points about the 1994 Rwandan genocide with no direct influence from the government. Tom breaks down the numerous changes to the structure on Rules of Engagement which would eventually result in arguably the most racist American film about an Arab nation to date. We also focus on the corporatization of the film industry in tandem with the national security state. The three of us rant about the blatant use of product placement in films today and how this is another piece of national security cinema. We end on a slightly positive note by talking about what can be done to combat this pervasive and dangerous problem. Tom and Matt also give some examples from the book of filmmakers which have actively fought against the national security states influence in cinema.
This month I discuss the issue of internet trolls, their irritating tactics, psychology, and my own methods for defeating them. I use a recent email I received from “Gary” as a prime example of a troll. I break down how I dealt with this situation and offer my own advice for how you can defeat the Gary’s of the internet world. I also discuss the reasons I believe people resort to this behavior, primarily focusing on the issue of loneliness and isolation.
Later I discuss whether it is ever justified to troll someone. I also talk about the times in which I myself have acted like a troll.
Pat McKenna joins us again for another in-depth discussion of the OJ Simpson trial and his first hand experiences investigating it. We begin by focusing on one of the most basic but largely overlooked aspects of the case: the timeline. Pat and I dissect the numerous problems with the prosecutions time line of events. Aside from their reliance on questionable characters like screenwriter Pablo Fenjeves, Pat and I break down how no one, let alone OJ could have physically committed these murders in the time allotted by the prosecution. Pat demonstrates that OJ would have had to have murdered both Ron and Nicole, driven home, banged on Kato’s air conditioner, dropped the glove, washed off all the blood, changed clothes, and gotten in the limo in roughly 22-25 minutes. Pat and I talk about the ways in which the prosecution leaned on and pressured witness to present their testimony in such a way as to fit into this rushed timeline. Pat and I discuss the fact that OJ and Kato went and around back to investigate the mysterious three thumps and at no point does either one of them see a glove or move a glove. We also focus on how the prosecution’s version of events often leads one to posit that there was a larger conspiracy in which one or more person’s helped OJ in the murder. Pat and I also talk about the need to approach the timeline in a logical manner.
In the second hour Pat and I discuss Brian Heiss’ timeline and present evidence that logically has the murders taking place much later than the 10:15pm clock that the prosecution claimed. We talk about Ron’s movements on the night on June 12, and show how he could not have left his house until 10:30pm at the earliest. Pat demonstrates how this would have Ron arriving at Nicole’s closer to 10:36 which lines up with ear witness Denise Pilnak. Pat and I also talk about the physical act of the murders which by all accounts was much longer than the prosecution wanted to admit. Pat also answers several listener questions including: who was the intended target, how do Brett Cantor and Michael Nigg’s murders fit in, the alleged break in of Jennifer Ameli’s office. Pat also talks about meeting with Anthony Pellicano who had been hired by Mark Fuhrman to acquire the infamous Fuhrman tapes, and the role that the now incarcerated PI played in the trial.
Tom Secker and Robbie Martin join me for a very wide ranging discussion on everything from Reality Winner to Dennis Rodman. Tom and I start off the conversation by talking about the Wikileaks Twitter account tweeting about our issue on The American Journal of Economics and Sociology. We talk about the obvious divide right now between Assange and Wikileaks not just in terms of Twitter, but in terms of their media strategy. The three of us then dive into the bizarre case of NSA leaker Reality Winner. We theorize as to whether she is a true leaker, or a truly disgruntled employee. We discuss the possibility that Winner was set up to leak, and if this is really a move by the Trump administration to ward off future potential leakers. Robbie and Tom also touch on the strange behavior of The Intercept and how they mismanaged this entire story and their lack of protection of Reality Winner.
In the second hour we ponder the question as to whether Reality Winner represents a bookend to the celebrity culture of leakers and whistleblowers. We take a close look at Chelsea Manning and her recent media interviews. The three of us talk about the media’s obsession with Manning as a trans celebrity, and the ways in which they have sexualized and fetishized her since her release from prison. We discuss how the media has largely ignored or forgotten the true reasons for why she was imprisoned in the first place: leaking thousands of government documents. We talk about the notion that Bradley Manning and the actions associated with him are now dead and therefore are no longer a topic of discussion among the media. We round out the conversation by talking about Dennis Rodman’s most recent trip to North Korea. We talk about the possibility that Rodman is being used as either a back-channel or some form of intermediary between Kim Jong-Un and US intelligence. Robbie, Tom, and I also touch on the cryptocurrency Potcoin which has sponsored Rodman’s trip to the Hermit Kingdom.
Pearse Redmond joins us to discuss the TV series Billions, which mixes elements of legal thrillers, human drama, sexual fetishes, 9/11 insider trading and deep politics. We examine the characters in the film and how they are metaphors for the philosophical conflict at the heart of American politics between individual free will and the need for government as a restricting force. In short, Axe represents Ayn Rand and Chuck represents James Madison. We also look at several supporting characters including the non-binary Taylor who works at Axe’s hedge fund, Chuck’s father and his deep political friend Black Jack Foley, and how both sides in this conflict use coded language and spycraft as weapons against the other.
Keelan Balderson of WideShut.co.uk joins me today for an in depth discussion of the recent terror attacks in Manchester and London. We begin by looking at the initial narrative that the media presented to us and how that quickly began to change within days of the event. Keelan discusses how the narrative had many of the hallmarks of the 7/7 Terror attacks, such as prior knowledge and security monitoring, slipping through the net, and the calls for internal reviews by MI5. Next to take a closer look at Salman Abedi’s family and the claims that they were Libyan refugees. Keelan talks about the Salman’s fathers ties to the Libyan Islamic Fighting Group and the LIFG’s close relationship with both MI5 and MI6. We discuss how the British government has long funded and protected the LIFG and used them time and time again as a proxy force against former Libyan leader Gadaffi. Keelan and I also talk about the fact that as Home Secretary Theresa May signed off on orders allowing LIFG fighters to freely move around the UK and Europe. Keelan and I then move one the bombing itself and focus on several key pieces of evidence that have emerged. We look at the mysterious CCTV footage of Abedi buying tuna fish, almonds, air freshener, and scouring pads, and ask the question: if this the shopping list of a man who thinks he is about to die? The two of us also discuss the blacked out image of Abedi that has made the rounds in the media and again point out that this doesn’t really prove anything. Keelan also dives into the curious admission that the bomb Abedi used may have been equipped with a remote detonator, therefore begging the question of whether Abedi was an unwitting suicide bomber. Keelan and I explore the idea that Abedi could have been part of a much larger plot. We also talk a out several bizarre eyewitness reports, and well as conflicting forensic evidence.
In the second hour Keelan and I address Abedi’s families response to the bombing. We talk about his fathers allusion to this possibly being a false flag, as well his brothers flat out statement that he knew his brother was a terrorist. We then move onto some of the political responses to the attack. Keelan discusses May’s renewed efforts to control the internet with ever increasing draconian laws aimed at preventing this very attack. We also touch on the idea that this attack in many ways mimics Gladio style operations in places such as Italy in the 1970’s. We then move onto the London bridge attack and take a look at the attackers connections to another terrorist group with deep ties to British intelligence, al-Muhajiroun. We then look at how this is effecting the upcoming British election in just a few days. We finish off by looking at how the MSM and alt-media has completely accepted either blow-back or the right-wing narrative that Muslims are all evil. Keelan and I also touch on the recent severing of ties with Qatar by Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, and the UAE, and how this may be playing into the ever evolving narrative of the war on terror.
Legendary private investigator Pat McKenna joins me today to discuss his work on the OJ Simpson trial. We begin by discussing Pat’s initial work on the case which took him to Chicago. Pat talks about his three weeks there interviewing numerous witnesses who saw OJ. Pat explains how like most people he assumed that the media was right and OJ was guilty. Yet as his investigation unfolded, interviewing people such as the staff at the hotel near the O’Hare airport, to people on the plane, Pat began to come to the realization that OJ was not the murder. Pat points out some of the key pieces of evidence he discovered there which point towards someone other than OJ being the killer. We discuss how OJ signed numerous autographs yet no one remembers him as having cut up and bloody hands. Pat also talks about the fact that OJ only left his hotel room after he was told of his ex-wifes murder, which casts doubt on the theory that he left to bury evidence. Pat also talks about Chicago PD’s assertion that the LAPD began screwing up evidence the moment they received it from Chicago. Next we move onto Mark Fuhrman, his racist past and the numerous problems with his timeline of events on the night in question. Pat explains his own investigation into Fuhrman’s background and lays out how Fuhrman planted the gloves. Pat also breaks down the impossibility of the prosecutions timeline of events that night.
In the second hour we take a look at one one the most overlooked but important witnesses in the case, Tom Lange, the last person to have seen Nicole Simpson alive. We explore both the original police report and Lange’s own personal notes on what he saw the night of June 12, 1994. Pat explains how Lange saw Nicole talking with two men a few minutes after 10pm who were driving a White Ford 350 truck. Pat talks about the credibility of Lange and why his story should be trusted, as well as why the LAPD and prosecution never followed up with him. We also point out some of the discrepancies between the police report and what Lange actually stated he saw that night. Later we talk a look at other eye and ear witnesses from that night and show how nearly all of them contradict the prosecutions own timeline. Pat also touches on the ways in which the prosecution went after these witnesses and trotted out the most untrustworthy individuals to prop up their increasingly flimsy case. Pat also breaks down the numerous issues with the infamous bloody socks. Pat and I also touch on the allegations that drugs played a part in the murder.
Pat will be joining me again very soon so let me know if you have any questions you would like us to discuss.
